I bring a calm and grounded energy to the birth space. I base my practice in connection, inclusivity, and evidence based information, to help you feel supported in your body and your decisions.
Hi, I’m Ro!
I’m a birth and postpartum doula supporting families in southern Vancouver Island. I live, work, and play on the unceded territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ nations. I was drawn to this family support side of the birth world and feel very privileged to be a part of it.
I work with expecting parents and families through labour, delivery, and during the postpartum period. I’m here to help you feel prepared and empowered for birth, talk through fears, and walk with you in this journey. My goal in my work is to help families and birthing people feel confident in their choices. I come into families’ spaces full of curiosity, I want to learn as much as I can about what you want your birth to look like. I learn what makes you feel safe, what makes you feel on edge, and what makes your heart feel full and comfortable.
While I cannot predict how your birth will go or make guarantees, it is my job to help you feel prepared and informed. I do not believe there are right or wrong ways to give birth. I come without judgment or bias.
I am excited to help folks from all walks of life, in all bodies including trans, queer, and gender non-conforming people. I am committed to practicing birth work with openness, inclusivity, and compassion. I meet you where you are at, without bias or judgement.
My Philosophy
I believe birth is a right of passage people go through, not a medical event to be managed. I believe in agency and the right to choose how to birth. Birth is birth, from unmedicated home births to planned cesareans; we all deserve to feel safe and supported during this time. As for postpartum I believe people need a village. We are not meant to be on our own during postpartum, "parent the parent" so to speak. We all deserve to feel respected, supported, and seen durning the perinatal period. I strive to be a grounded and calm energy in the birth and postpartum space.
